CastleBranch at Maryville: the myCB packages still listed, and how they relate to Exxat

The short answer

For online graduate nursing students, Exxat is the platform in Maryville's current articles. Ask Maryville pieces dated 2025 and 2026 describe the Exxat Compliance module, site and preceptor requests in Exxat, and a background check and drug screen ordered through Universal inside Exxat. CastleBranch hasn't vanished from view, though. Maryville's CastleBranch order page still offers packages labeled for online NP students, and some help articles name CastleBranch next to Exxat. We found no public Maryville statement retiring CastleBranch for online NP students, and none telling new students to use it.

Until your clinical instructions or the Online Clinical Team say otherwise, do your compliance work in Exxat and hold off on any CastleBranch purchase.

What the CastleBranch portal still shows

Maryville's CastleBranch order page lists “Nurse Practitioner (Online)” packages. You choose between “I am NOT A MISSOURI RESIDENT” and “I am a MISSOURI RESIDENT”, and each package bundles a background check, a drug test and a compliance tracker. Students may also know CastleBranch by its myCB name.

A package being on sale doesn't mean you need it. The order page doesn't say which students Maryville currently sends there, or whether an Exxat account replaces it. It is simply still live.

The residency split fits a comment in a 2023 Maryville webinar that the background check fee depends on your state. That webinar is dated, and it doesn't say which system the fee belonged to, so don't read it as a current instruction to use CastleBranch.

What Maryville's own sources say, by date

Laid side by side, Maryville's sources show the direction of travel. The dates below are the ones the pages carry.

Read together, the newer, more detailed articles point to Exxat, and the mixed wording elsewhere looks like older text that hasn't been tidied up. Treat that as our reading of the record, and confirm it with the Online Clinical Team. The same pattern shows up with eValue, which older Maryville guides describe for site requests and time logs.

The campus immunization policy and CastleBranch

One CastleBranch mention can send you the wrong way. Maryville's university Immunization Policy, revised November 2024, sends health-professions students who want a religious or medical vaccine exemption to a Maryville Health/Wellness Portal, with the supporting paperwork going into CastleBranch.

Online graduate nursing students get a different instruction in that same policy: use the Clinical Resource Center. So the CastleBranch upload isn't the route that policy gives you, and your exemption questions belong with the Resource Center and the Online Clinical Team.

The vaccines themselves, and why negative titers get rejected, are on immunizations. If a CastleBranch step turns up in anything written for your program, ask about it before acting on it.

How to tell which one applies to you

You don't have to guess. Work through these in order and stop when you have a clear answer.

1. Read the email that set up your clinical accountMaryville's welcome page says instructions for its “Clinical Database System” arrive by Maryville email the semester before your first clinical. The system that email names is yours.
2. Check the Resource CenterMaryville says the login-only Graduate Nursing Clinical Resource Center covers compliance and the steps to access Exxat.
3. Look inside ExxatIf your Compliance module lists the background check and drug screen through Universal, that is where you order them.
4. Ask before you buyIf anything still points you to CastleBranch, write to the Online Clinical Team and ask whether you need a package, and which one.
5. Keep the answerSave the written reply with your compliance records in case the question comes up again.

If you've already bought a package

Maryville's public pages don't say whether a CastleBranch background check, drug test or tracker carries over to Exxat, or what happens to a package bought by mistake. Don't assume either way.

Write to the Online Clinical Team with what you bought, when you bought it, and your course number. Questions about the order itself go to CastleBranch, since it runs the portal. Students who started under older instructions, or who are returning after time away, are more likely to have records in both places, so ask which records Maryville will look at for your next clinical course.
