Maryville NP clinicals in Wyoming: a written notice, not an approval
Maryville's June 2026 grids put no limit on any NP track in Wyoming. Post-licensure programs such as Maryville's NP tracks don't need approval from the Wyoming State Board of Nursing. The Board does expect two things before a Wyoming clinical begins: a written notice that the student is coming, and a contract signed with the facility. Wyoming has also enacted the APRN Compact, which isn't operating yet.

Look up Wyoming on any of Maryville's June 2026 grids, MSN through BSN-to-DNP, and FNP, AGPCNP, AGACNP, PMHNP and PNP all read “Meets.” The 2020 status page, which still names New York, Louisiana, Oregon and Washington, has nothing on Wyoming. Each concentration's 750 clinical hours can be completed here as far as the grids go.
What Wyoming's Chapter 6 rules ask of Maryville
Wyoming separates pre-licensure programs from post-licensure ones, and your NP track is on the lighter side of that line.

Pre-licensure LPN and RN programs face more: they must ask the Board's permission, and their preceptors and faculty who give patient care in Wyoming need an active, unencumbered Wyoming or multistate license. That process isn't yours. The notice and contract are Maryville's to handle, so ask the Maryville Online Clinical Team to confirm both before your first day. Full practice and who can precept
AANP rates Wyoming full practice, with no condition recorded in our research, so Wyoming NPs work without a physician agreement and can take a student on their own authority. That suits Maryville's rule, under which a Wyoming NP with board certification, an unrestricted license and twelve months or more of practice can serve. So do board-certified MD and DO preceptors, and PMHNP students can also use an LCSW, PsychD or PhD psychologist.

Two compacts in Wyoming
January 19, 2018 marks the start of Wyoming's place in the Nurse Licensure Compact. If your multistate RN license was issued by another member state and is clean, you can train here on it, and that satisfies Maryville's license rule as well. That isn't true of a single-state license issued by a state outside the compact.
Wyoming has enacted the APRN Compact as well, placing it in Title 33 of the Wyoming Statutes, Chapter 21, Article 3. Seven enactments are needed before it operates, and as of 2026 there are five: Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota and Delaware. Until a seventh state joins, NP licenses remain state by state. Cheyenne, Casper, Gillette and beyond
Wyoming's population centers are small. In the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate, Cheyenne, the largest metro, had about 103,000 people. Casper followed with roughly 81,000, and the Gillette micropolitan area had around 48,000. Among the large providers are Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Casper has Banner Wyoming Medical Center, which belongs to Banner Health, an Arizona-based system. Campbell County Health serves Gillette, while Ivinson Memorial Hospital, affiliated with UCHealth, is in Laramie. They show where NP students look; none is named here as a Maryville site.

Does Wyoming's Board have to approve Maryville's NP program?
No. Wyoming's Chapter 6 rules exempt post-licensure programs, including APRN, DNP and MSN programs, from Board approval. Three duties still fall on the program. It needs either registration with the Wyoming Department of Education or approval through NC-SARA. The Board must get written notice from it any time one of its students has a Wyoming clinical learning experience coming up. And before clinicals begin, it must sign a contract with the clinical facility.
Is the Wyoming Board notice my job or Maryville's?
The rule puts it on the program: the out-of-state program notifies the Board in writing, using a sample cover letter the Board supplies if it wants. Your job is to give Maryville accurate site and preceptor details in your Exxat request so the notice matches. Ask the Maryville Online Clinical Team to confirm it's been sent before your first clinical day.
Could one NP license cover me in both Wyoming and Utah under the APRN Compact?
Not yet. Both states have enacted the APRN Compact, yet it needs seven enacting states to start operating, and the 2026 count is five. Until it does, NP licensure stays state by state, so plan on a separate NP license in each state where you'll practice after graduation. Your RN license for clinicals is a separate matter.
I live near Cheyenne. Can I do some hours in Colorado?
Colorado is also “Meets” on Maryville's June 2026 grids and a compact state, so an unencumbered Wyoming multistate license covers it. Wyoming's notice rule wouldn't apply to hours done in Colorado.
