Nevada clinicals for Maryville NP students start with a Nevada RN license
Maryville's June 2026 grids mark Nevada “Meets” for every NP track. Two Nevada facts shape the rest. First, you'll need a Nevada RN license, since the Nurse Licensure Compact doesn't include Nevada. Second, a Board rule on clinical instruction by online programs is silent on whether graduate NP programs fall under it. Settle both with Maryville early.

Enrollment isn't the obstacle. All four June 2026 grids, from the MSN to the BSN-to-DNP, read “Meets” for Nevada in FNP, AGPCNP, AGACNP, PMHNP and PNP, and the 2020 status page doesn't list Nevada. The obstacles sit elsewhere.

Why a compact license won't work in Nevada
The compact map lists Nevada as a nonmember, and no bill to join is pending. That means a multistate license issued in Arizona, Utah, Idaho or elsewhere in the compact doesn't carry a practice privilege into Nevada.
A practice decision from the Nevada Board requires a Nevada license for anyone caring for patients in the state or practicing nursing there, and the covered activities include nursing education with direct patient contact. Maryville's own requirement matches: the state where your patients are must be one where your RN license is valid. Because a license still in process can hold up a placement Maryville has otherwise approved, file the Nevada application well ahead of your Exxat access. NAC 632.703 and programs taught online
NAC 632.703 applies when part of a program is conducted inside Nevada. That program has to give the Board a report on the Board's form, along with evidence of compliance with NRS and NAC 632, proof of its approval or accreditation, and yearly school reports. Clinical instruction in Nevada by a program offered online or in some other nontraditional format needs Board approval first, and any faculty member who teaches in Nevada needs a Nevada license.
Nothing in the rule treats graduate programs differently from pre-licensure or post-licensure ones. The Board's roster of out-of-state schools cleared to offer just the clinical part of their program in Nevada was updated September 1, 2026. The only programs it names are ADN and BSN programs at the pre-licensure level, and Maryville doesn't appear. Our research can't tell whether NP programs sit outside the rule or none has applied. Full practice, a prescribing threshold and supervision rules
AANP puts Nevada in its full practice group, with one limit on prescribing. Until an NP has 2,000 hours or two years of experience in clinical practice, Schedule II drugs are off the table unless a physician-approved protocol covers the NP. A board-certified Nevada NP qualifies to precept for Maryville after one year, but before crossing the two-year or 2,000-hour mark, that preceptor's Schedule II prescribing may be narrower than a veteran's.
Rotations also follow a 2005 Board practice decision about precepted clinicals. Under it, faculty direct every student clinical experience and stay reachable, each preceptor is on site and takes at most two students at once, and the program hands preceptors written objectives plus an orientation. Maryville's own rule is unchanged: APRN, MD or DO, board certified, a year in practice, and for PMHNP also an LCSW, PsychD or PhD psychologist. See preceptor requirements.
Las Vegas, Reno and the systems in each
Census Bureau estimates for 2025 count roughly 2.4 million residents in metro Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas and roughly 579,000 in Reno, with Carson City much smaller. Around Las Vegas, the big names are University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, HCA Healthcare's Sunrise Health System, The Valley Health System, and the Henderson and Las Vegas hospitals of Dignity Health; Reno has Renown Health. We name them as places NP students look, not as sites that host Maryville students.

Questions Maryville students ask
Can I use my Arizona multistate license for Maryville clinicals in Las Vegas?
No. Because Nevada has not joined the Nurse Licensure Compact, an Arizona multistate license, or one from any compact state, doesn't let you practice there. Nevada's Board has said in a practice decision that nursing education involving direct contact with Nevada patients requires a Nevada license. Get your Nevada RN license before you see patients at a Nevada site.
Does Maryville appear on the Nevada Board's approved list of out-of-state programs?
Not on the version our research checked. That Board list, updated September 1, 2026, covers out-of-state schools allowed to hold only the clinical part of a program in Nevada, and every entry is an ADN or BSN program at the pre-licensure level. Because the rule is unclear on whether graduate NP programs need the same approval, raise it with the Maryville Online Clinical Team before you plan Nevada clinicals.
My Nevada preceptor already has two students. Can I still join?
Probably not at the same time. Under the Board's 2005 practice decision, a Nevada preceptor may supervise a maximum of two students simultaneously and has to be on site. If your preceptor's slots are full, ask about a later term or a colleague in the same practice, and tell the Maryville Online Clinical Team if the plan changes after approval.
Does Nevada's Schedule II rule affect a PMHNP rotation?
It can. Unless a physician-approved protocol applies, a Nevada NP can't prescribe Schedule II drugs until the NP's clinical experience reaches two years or 2,000 hours. Maryville's 2023 guidance says PMHNP preceptors need psychiatric prescribing authority, so a newer Nevada PMHNP may be a narrower fit for some medication management. See our PMHNP preceptor guide.
