Maryville NP clinicals in Delaware start with a Board notice
Maryville's June 2026 grids mark Delaware “Meets” for all five NP tracks. Delaware's Board of Nursing requires out-of-state schools to notify it and file documents before using a Delaware clinical facility, and its standards cover “all nursing education programs” without carving out graduate programs. That filing is Maryville's to make, so confirm it's in place for your site before you plan a start date.

All five tracks, one extra step
Delaware doesn't limit which Maryville concentration you can pursue. FNP, AGPCNP, AGACNP, PMHNP and PNP all read “Meets” on the June 2026 MSN, post-master's certificate, DNP-NP and BSN-to-DNP grids, nor does the 2020 status page list any Delaware limit. What Delaware asks of out-of-state schools
If a school based outside Delaware wants its students in a Delaware clinical facility, 24 Del. Admin. Code 1900-2.4.1.9.4.1.5 has it notify the Board of Nursing first and, before that first use, send in:
- Evidence of national accreditation, or of approval by its own state board
- Copies of the written agreements it keeps with each clinical agency it uses
- What it requires of the faculty and preceptors who teach clinically
- Each faculty member's and preceptor's name, with the site assigned to them
- Copies of the current licenses its faculty and preceptors hold, whether Delaware or compact (multistate)
A second provision covers the sites themselves (1900-2.4.1.9.4.1.4): the Board approves each clinical facility from forms the school files, and does so before any student is placed there; its representatives may also visit. Because the standards reach “all nursing education programs,” with no split by level (graduate, RN-to-BSN or pre-licensure), nothing in them exempts Maryville's NP programs. Check with the Maryville Online Clinical Team that Delaware has been notified and that your site is included.
Delaware's filing lists preceptors by name and site. If your preceptor changes mid-term, ask Maryville what that means for the Board notice before the new preceptor's first day.
Preceptors: Delaware's definition and Maryville's
AANP rates Delaware full practice, with no transition period in our research. Maryville's own list is board-certified APRNs, MDs and DOs holding an unencumbered license with a year or more in practice; for PMHNP students it extends to an LCSW, PsychD or PhD in psychology. Delaware's regulations describe a preceptor as a nurse whose license is valid and whose education reaches at least the BSN level. When an online program's faculty member teaches clinically at a Delaware facility, whether as instructor or preceptor, the rules add that the person be licensed or privileged at the level the student is working toward, or above it. Both definitions fit an NP preceptor most closely. Whether a physician, or a PMHNP preceptor who isn't a nurse, fits that wording is a question to bring to Maryville before you commit.
Two compacts, one of them waiting
Delaware's Nurse Licensure Compact membership took effect January 19, 2018, meaning an RN with a multistate license issued by their home compact state can practice there, as Maryville requires. Delaware is also one of five states, with North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming, that have enacted the APRN Compact; it signed the law on August 4, 2021. Wilmington, Dover and Seaford
About 588,000 Delawareans, per the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate, live on Delaware's side of the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington metro; most of the remainder live in the Dover metro or the Seaford micropolitan area. Among the large systems are ChristianaCare, Bayhealth and Beebe Healthcare. For PNP students, a natural first stop is Nemours Children's Health, which runs pediatric care in several states and has its Delaware hospital in Wilmington; see PNP preceptors. Treat them as places to start asking.

Does Delaware's out-of-state notice rule apply to graduate NP programs?
Nothing in the rule sets NP programs aside. Its standards are written for “all nursing education programs,” and they make no distinction among graduate, RN-to-BSN and pre-licensure programs. Whether Maryville has made the filing is Maryville's to confirm. Put the question to the Maryville Online Clinical Team before your first day at a Delaware site, and keep its reply with your records.
What license does my Delaware preceptor need?
The school files the licenses with Delaware: its rule wants copies of the current license each faculty member and preceptor holds, Delaware-issued or compact (multistate). Maryville separately requires the preceptor's license to be unencumbered in the state where they practice, plus board certification and a year of experience. If your preceptor's license comes from another state, raise it with Maryville early.
Can the APRN Compact help me after graduation in Delaware?
Not yet. Delaware's APRN Compact law dates from 2021, and five states in all have enacted the compact, but it won't take effect until seven have. For your clinicals, the compact that matters is the Nurse Licensure Compact, which Delaware implemented in 2018 and under which a multistate RN license from your home state covers practice there.
Is Nemours a good place for a Maryville PNP student to look?
It's a natural starting point: Nemours Children's Health is a multi-state pediatric system with its Delaware hospital in Wilmington. Maryville's older guidance places PNP clinicals in primary or preventive care settings, so ask about outpatient pediatric practices, not only the hospital. Ask Nemours directly whether it takes Maryville students.
