Maryville NP clinicals in New Hampshire: full practice and a pre-licensure rule

New Hampshire is open for every Maryville NP track

Maryville's June 2026 licensure grids read “Meets” for New Hampshire across the MSN, post-master's certificate, DNP-NP and BSN-to-DNP, for every NP concentration, and the 2020 status page doesn't name New Hampshire. Your concentration still decides the setting you need; acute care, for example, calls for a hospitalist-type setting, covered on AGACNP preceptors.

Who New Hampshire's out-of-state rule is written for

New Hampshire has a detailed rule, but it points at pre-licensure programs. The provision is Nur 602.15(j), and its title, “Distance Education-Pre-Licensure,” signals its reach. It applies when an approved pre-licensure program based in another state contracts with a New Hampshire facility for clinicals. That program has to register its intent with the Board ahead of the experience and send six weeks' notice of each placement it plans.

What the rule asks of those programs

• An annual petition on Form A
• A Part B Student Clinical Placement form, one per rotation
• A Clinical Preceptor Agreement, one per preceptor
• For faculty from outside the state who directly supervise clinicals there: New Hampshire faculty standards, an unencumbered New Hampshire license and a Nursing Program Faculty Appointment form

According to the state's Office of Professional Licensure and Certification (OPLC), post-licensure programs, with RN-BSN and RN-MSN given as examples, sit outside what the Board regulates. Maryville's NP programs admit only licensed RNs, but the OPLC page doesn't mention NP programs by name. There's also a wrinkle in the rule itself: the copy of Nur 602.15 on Cornell's LII lists January 23, 2026 as its expiration date, OPLC continued to cite the rule during that month, and whether it has been readopted is best checked with OPLC. Confirm with Maryville whether it files anything for New Hampshire NP placements.

Full practice, with no transition period on record

New Hampshire is full practice in AANP's ratings, and unlike neighboring Vermont and Maine, it has no transition period for new NPs that our research could find. A board-certified New Hampshire NP whose license is unencumbered and who has practiced a year or longer meets Maryville's standard, and so does a board-certified MD or DO. PMHNP students can also look at LCSWs and PsychD or PhD psychologists. Maryville's full list, including who's excluded, is on preceptor requirements. We found no New Hampshire preceptor tax credit or grant.

Compact licensing, and the Massachusetts border

January 19, 2018 is when New Hampshire implemented the Nurse Licensure Compact. Since then, an RN may practice there on a multistate license issued by their compact home state, which satisfies Maryville's license rule. As for the APRN Compact, New Hampshire hasn't enacted it.

The southern border is where it gets harder. Roughly 459,000 people in New Hampshire are counted in the Boston-Cambridge-Newton metro, and Massachusetts's compact is still waiting on implementation, which its Board is aiming for in May 2027. A preceptor on the Massachusetts side means a Massachusetts RN license and that state's own approval process for out-of-state programs; see our Massachusetts guide. To the west, Vermont honors multistate licenses but wants its APRN students' preceptors to hold Vermont licenses.

Manchester, Nashua, Concord and a changing system map

Manchester-Nashua is the state's own largest metro, at about 433,000 people in the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate, with the Concord micropolitan area next. Among the large systems, Dartmouth Health runs Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and Catholic Medical Center belongs to HCA Healthcare. The others are Elliot Health System, Concord Hospital Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health.
